About the Extract
Developed as part of Ratèl Herbals, an artistic exploration by Delta van Melle into living systems, fungal biology, and extraction chemistry. Fomitopsis betulina (Birch Polypore) is a unique bracket fungus found exclusively on birch trees across northern Europe. Notably carried by Ötzi the Iceman over 5,000 years ago, it has a rich history in northern and eastern European ethnobotanical traditions.
To capture both the water- and alcohol-soluble fractions, our fruiting bodies undergo a multi-stage extraction. An ethanol extraction isolates hydrophobic triterpenoids, including betulinic acid and polyporenic acids, while hot water extraction draws out complex polysaccharides and beta-glucans.

Spring Water, Grain Alcohol, Wild-Harvested Birch Polypore Fruiting Body (Fomitopsis betulina).
Alcohol Content: 20% vol.
Extract ratio 1:2 – every 1 kg of fruiting body makes 2 litres of extract.

Ratèl Ritual (Suggested Use)
Shake well before use—this is an unfiltered, full-spectrum extract. Take 2–4 full pipettes daily mixed into a beverage, water, or directly under the tongue. Consistent daily use as part of a routine is recommended.
