A small-batch botanical oxymel of three classic herbs, raw Mānuka honey, and unpasteurized apple cider vinegar, made for an evening ritual.

About the Elixir

Developed as part of Ratèl Herbals, an artistic exploration by Delta van Melle into living systems, traditional extraction chemistry, and botanical traditions. An oxymel (from the Greek oxymeli, meaning "acid and honey") is an ancient herbal preparation combining vinegar and honey to draw out both water- and acid-soluble plant constituents.

This formulation pairs the whole aerial parts of California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica) and Field Poppy petals (Papaver rhoeas) with a traditional grain alcohol extract of Valerian root (Valeriana officinalis). Steeped together with raw Mānuka honey and raw apple cider vinegar, the result is a balanced, drinkable elixir with a warm, complex finish.
