RATÈL HERBALS

RATÈL HERBALS

Ratèl Herbals creates small-batch mushroom and herbal extracts, working with fungi and botanicals that have been valued across cultures and centuries. We are drawn to species with a deep history of traditional use, preparing them slowly and intentionally in small quantities to keep the craftsmanship close.

Our Focus

Modern life asks a lot. Ratèl is a small daily ritual against the rush: open the bottle, listen, add a few pipettes to your drink. We work with fungi and plants that people have grown, picked and prepared for centuries, and we take our time doing it.

The Art & Chemistry of Extraction

Rooted in an artistic exploration of living systems, fungal biology, and laboratory chemistry, our practice bridges traditional ethnobotany with rigorous modern extraction. We grow and wild-forage our mushrooms locally, working exclusively with 100% pure fruiting bodies—never fillers, starches, or grain substrates.

To honor the integrity of every harvest, our fungi and botanicals are freeze-dried immediately upon collection, locking in delicate, volatile constituents that traditional heat-drying ovens destroy.

Because a simple tea or basic steep only draws out a fraction of what a mushroom holds, we employ up to six specialized extraction techniques across multiple stages—combining ultrasonic-assisted disruption, Soxhlet extraction, pressurized hot water extraction, ethanol fractionation, freeze-thawing, and thermal reduction. The result is a concentrated, dense, and full-spectrum liquid extract that captures the true living depth of the organism.

The Name: Ratèl /rɑːtəl/

Named after the traditional wooden rattle used in winter clearing rituals, whose sound was invoked to clear a space of unwanted energy and drive away what lingered unseen.

Opening a bottle of Ratèl is designed as its own sensory signal—a ritual marker of sound and self-care. It marks a moment to set aside what no longer serves you and step back into your day.
